Set a gold password for his credit card.

On a serious note:
He needs to be more responsible with his spending.  Drunk or not, its not an excuse.  Same concept as 'im sorry I hit my girlfriend officer, I was drunk'.

Apparently he didn't hit her hard enough, as she was able to call the police.

Was just joking.

Your friend can do a charge back on the site with his credit card.

He could try that. However, I think he deserves the consequences that come with blowing $1k. Might teach him the value of money.

Thats what happens when you become a belligerent drunk :p

edit: lol fatzero

It's unfortunate in my opinion that many of the posts are enabling your friends irresponsible behavior.

He made a choice and it is now on him to deal with the consequences.

That's why poor choices are called that. They don't (and shouldn't) have the same outcome as wise ones.

There are worse ways to lose a grand while intoxicated. Time for him to man up.

Everyone makes mistakes, not fair that criminals get off like Casey Anthony but we'd let some guy get punished for being highly intoxicated one time.

If it happens again I'd say he's SOL but for a first time he should get his money back and learn from it.

How would he be learning from it if that happened?

We don't know if it was his "first time"

Just because it wasn't a huge mistake he shouldn't pay the consequences?

When he makes a bigger mistake because he got away with the first one? Then what?

Best advice here ^

If he can't be responsible for his actions he shouldn't be drinking. Best lessons learned are the hard ones I always say.

It isn't fair to assume he'll make another mistake, from what OP says he is a great guy, why punish someone for making one wrong choice? It isn't like he killed someone, he just wasted a grand while intoxicated because he was probably like "dude I love diablo let me buy some stuff" and maybe typed in 100$ but accidentally hit 1000?

He may not make a bigger mistake...

The only way he will get his money back is by lying. (to paypal or his credit card issuer etc)

How will he learn anything by making a sober mistake to cover up a drunken one?

In this case the guy actually get's product for his grand.

Had he gambled it or lost it in some other indisputable way he wouldn't be able to weasel his way out of it.
