I'm on 1920x1080 and it looks great, but whenever i go to a website. for example i was just on espn.com, and everything is in the center, as if it doesnt configure to monitors like this. so now it's like 5 inches of blank on the left and right, and the center.

That's the normal thing that happens for widescreen monitors, since some web-pages aren't made dynamic in size.

If you don't want to live with that, any wide-screen resolution should fit your needs really.

EDIT;

Here's a list that should fit your screen.

852x480-----16:9
1280x720-----16:9
1365x768-----16:9
1600x900-----16:9
1920x1080-----16:9

I know what you mean, though not as extreme. My laptop is a 15.6 widescreen and YouTube for example has big spaces on the side that used to look funny to me, my pc/old monitor doesn't have these spaces.

You could try the suggestion above mine, or maybe use ctrl + , and if you don't like it just ctrl - , this increases/decreases the zoom on webpages.

If you go into the Display section of control panel, you can make text and icons and such larger, so stuff is easier to see
