I'm not exactly positive, but check the agreements when using an iPhone. There might be something in there that requires a data plan for the phone. Which is why they only sell the phones with the data plans (as far as I remember).

.... No offense, I appreciated the help and answers, but seriously stop stating the obvious when I'm asking for a way around it.

This was not the obvious, as far as I can tell.

I told you to read into the APPLE REQUIREMENTS specifically. Sure, you are on an AT&T base plan, but if Apple requires you to have a data plan if you use their phone, that is a whole new story.

Your Friends best bet is to contact AT&T and ask them if he can use it without having a Data plan

I have Verizon so idk about AT&T... But I can call the customer service department & have them Block/Disable Data usage from my phone so I can't use it

"Hopefully the title clearly state my question. Is there anyway to use an iPhone 3g without a data plan and not be charged for internet? (AT&T) Feel free to pm me the answer or post it here. Thanks in advance."

Please get your +1 somewhere else. Tried being nice in responding to your first post, but obviously nice doesn't cut it anymore. P.S. Don't bother responding as I won't respond back.

@Termination
AT&T automatically add the data plan if they detect you're using any smartphone. Thank you for your responses though.

Still looking for possible solutions. Thanks to those who respond so far.

Wow you are stubborn.

If you have an iPhone 3G, which I have right now, the Apple service requirement of the phone (regardless of the service carrier) MAY REQUIRE A SERVICE PLAN TO BE ADDED. That is all I am saying. Not sure what you do not understand.

No shit sherlock. That's why he made the thread is because AT&T, not may, but REQUIRED data service to be added and he's wondering if there's any way to get around this requirement... Geez, I understand it's not word for word, but seriously use some common sense and if it wasn't a requirement, he wouldn't have posted....

Bump for my brother...
