do you know which folder on a mac the actual patch file is in? i used to do it on my dell but i'm not finding it on the mac. and the 1.09 dl'd as an application, would that be what i replace it with

this is from blizzard patch 1.09 for mac . you can try it but i dont know if it will works . http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/diablo/patches/mac/
other way is if u can obtain old d2 expansion disc and instal it without upg via internet . gl

yea ive gotten to this, and downloaded it, but i do not know where to put the file? what folder has the patch data that i can replace?

diablo II folder

click on your diablo 2 icon --> properties --> find target

I've never done this before or have a mac
But first I'd try to see if there's a patchd2.mpq file somewhere with the patch application
And then replace it with the one in your D2 folder... which is usually in the program files folder on your hard drive

If it doesn't work just try getting the CD and reinstalling game

ok i sortve got to a similar place but it still isn't working, i put in a request on battle.net hopefully they can help. thanks for trying. If anyone Has actually done this before themselves let me know
