I see no harm in this either, but question like: "What if I use the socket quest on my MP, how many sockets does my MP gets?" should be posted in the Diablo II Discussion & Guides forum.
I've got almost no knowledge about Diablo II, therefore I can not answer those questions.

There are a few GH helpers who can help with questions like this, but it's better to ask them in the Diablo II Discussion & Guides section.
Because: In that forum there are way more people who have great knowledge of Diablo II who'll be glad to help people out with such a question.

Well to be fair, you aren't going to have knowledge about everything, but you aren't the only one who posts here. From what I've seen there are several people more than knowledgeable for any question posted here, and if not they know how to find the answer.

I think everything has been said right here.

The bottom one is backwards. If it involves drivers, sounds and gfx about a game I think they should be posted here. (Complex problems)

That's just my input. Correct me if wrong

The reason I disagree is because allowing technical support but not gameplay support is quite hypocritical, and your logic for one backfires on the other. You say that the Diablo II Discussion forum is more appropriate for gameplay questions because there are more people and resources there, but does that not also apply for technical support? The very first section in the pinned unified guide in that forum is technical resources.

I feel like this is spam.

If you don't want to help me with this issue or have anything relevant to add I would think the moderators would discourage you from posting. :)

Again, show me topics with basic Diablo II questions that we closed recently.
I doubt there are any, but if there are we'd like to know about it. Thanks!

If you feel that the overall reaction should change, start by being a role model.
Provide these answers, just like we do it whenever we stumble upon such a topic.

@Ricardo: Actually I'd consider this a pretty basic question. Don't forget that the majority of users here have a Diablo II background and can answer these questions without having to look it up or think twice about it.
@IIBBQII: You didn't get my point, I was talking about game mechanics, that's content/gameplay. But I wouldn't ask for the exact formula for open wounds damage here for example, and similar stuff ... got my point?

Ok, I think you should use the Pm feature and ask njaguar. Useless thread here in all honesty.

I do agree with this to an extent. There are only a certain amount of people that can help here in GH about games. The major problems with games HAVE been answered here but have also been directed to the forum in which they can be helped further. It also depends on the game you are requesting help for. Most of us have only played Diablo II, therefor it is hard to answer every question about every game that comes in here. I am going back on my previous statement that bad technical issues need to be posted here (Drivers, Gfx and sound) because a lot of people know about this kind of stuff even if it is game related.

I have no intentions of being a role model, because if it is against the policy to allow these threads in General Help then to answer Diablo II related questions would be quite the opposite, wouldn't it? ;)

Also, what you are implying by telling me to report threads that are closed here for being related to Diablo II is that it is in fact okay to post those threads, and the team members who closed it are incorrect (which I also have no intentions of doing, as your moderating team has members to ensure you are training your newer staff properly, and I'm sure they are good enough to handle their jobs without my help).

I don't see the point in PMing an Administrator about a Moderation issue. njaguar delegates moderating responsibility to team members who can handle those issues for him, to prevent a bottle-necking of help given. "In all honesty", I don't appreciate you putting down my thread and myself with your degrading posts, and I would like for you to please stop. Thanks.

Anyway, Qry if you could PM me addressing my response to you I would appreciate it, after that I think this thread has served it's purpose. :)

I'll have to agree with that. I've played Diablo II for a long time, but I just forgot everything about when I've quit.
Only things I can help with is D2jsp related stuff and Runescape.

I don't think I need anymore things to know about though. I'll just let the other helpers handle those situations.

But if questions about character builds/Items and more are going to be asked here, there's no need for a Diablo II discussion section in my opinion. :)

Again, it's not against the policy. Please refer to my post #6.

Our team is trained well. My point was that you kept implying "oh, these get closed" when in fact they don't. Thus I was asking you to provide an example of a basic D2 question closed down recently.

There is a small overlapping gray area, but that's okay. There is nothing wrong with asking any questions in GH, also if they are D2 related.

There are of course certain things that are better suited for D&G, I provided one example above. Also I wouldn't discuss full character builds and item setups here.
But in my opinion it's perfectly fine to ask stuff like "what was that shield's name again that has DR and a good block percentage" here, most will know the answer.

You're right. I'm not saying it is wrong though ^_^
e/ but it "should" be posted in the Diablo II section.

BUT some of these questions need to be posted in other forums and not needed in GH. It's just that other people do not know this..
