Well McAfee was put on my computer and it asked for activation, so I assumed that it wanted me to pay, but all it asked for was my name/email/password, and then it told me that my subscription was activated,

and it ends august 31 2011, so I guess I'm actually set with McAfee for free for like 15 months now lol.

When that time comes though, I will most likely switch to something else though, but thanks for all of your input guys

You didn't specify if you have a 32 or 64 bit Win7?

I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Went shopping for Norton, and all the Internet Security I found supported 32-bit only.

So, I switched to AVG Internet Security which supports both 32/64-bit OS's.

Package licenses up to 3 PC's

Go for avast, I have it on 3 comp. All is good, very light one but only 1 con which is detecting private troijans as it doesn't use heuristic methods

and if you say free ones suck, that's your then. paid one's suck really, u can't find any public virus from internet which is detectable by paid anti-viruses only.

you want safety? then don't get upset with slowing down your computer a little bit..

the store where i bought my laptop recommended Norton, i've always used Norton and never had a virus

so basically you are now 100% protected since norton hasn't ever detected a virus?

I'd prefer to have antivirus which detects viruses instead of having 0 detected.

how can you know it has detected all viruses and you wouldn't atm have 1 which isn't detected?

yep, pretty much proving that norton has zero advantages when we look to free antiviruses.

and the computer store recommended norton because OEM manufactors have deals with OEM antivirus suppliers like norton. they recommend norton, someone buys norton from them, they get $


my computer works fine also, and avast isn't slowing down computer as much as norton does. I used to have norton, don't have it anymore since it isn't any better than normal antivirus, unless you really use those parental control & site filters which it offers extra
