I need a few points i could make for this debate. My position is that
Pollution in the ocean is not a significant issue.

You could counter your position and say that pollution on land is more harmful than pollution from the ocean.
Cars in general cause more emissions vs. anything.

Must you say that pollution in the ocean isn't significant? Like is that why you are debating, to debate against ethical concepts?
Cause truthfully ocean pollution is deadly which can kill fishes causing a chain reaction for the human's food supply.

Obviously theres more water than land, small poloution will be fine, just tell them to quit crying and get over it and that water > our land mass

This debate is all going to come down to framework. Careful, careful, framework. It would help me to help you if you would post the exact resolution (if you have one)...

Basically define significant. Show that the major forms of man-made pollution are insignificant (using your own definition of significant) in comparison to natural forms. Sure, we crashed a ship into Alaska and spilled so many tons of oil into the Ocean. But didn't all of that oil come from below the rock to start with? And don't natural oil spills happen? Throw out some extremely scary facts about "natural" pollution - the amount of methane released by farm animals in the world, and how that's more than all the cars in (*enter big country's name here*) ....

You can't take the stance that we don't pollute. Take the stance that a lot of our polluting is blown way out of proportion and in terms of the global ecosystem the majority of it is rather insignificant.

Like any debate it's about framework and definitions - research and preparation.

Sounds fun.

depends on pollution. if smaller items, they would sink to the bottom and be crushed by the pressure and deteriorate at a much faster rate at those depths. plus the ocean is so vast that it could spare us a little room on the land from junk.. but yea lmk if u want me to expand or not

over 70% of earth surface is water
the materials we are getting out of making various materials is greater then the small percentage of the water we do polute
talk about how massive the ocean is and how small amount we are poluting it (some clever analogy)
the waters are 99% of the worlds ocean is unexplored
the water from the ocean cant be used for many things such as drinking
only thing the ocean provides is a transportational highway
most the fish we eat come from fish farms not the ocean
etc

-1 : there is far mor pollution throughout our air then ever has been recorded in the ocean!

-2 : they should be more worried about the Chinese eating the ocean away

-3 : should be more interested in the way the country's being run and the way the money's spent rather then then waisting time on pollution

-4 : Maybe switch it on them and us facts from another type of pollution like air or land..

Hope some of this can help

There are greater issues in the world such as war among countries, which, due to the fact that ammunition for the US military is created from Uranium - 238, more radiation plants have to be created and the nuclear waste that is created from this damages the entire planet, especially the ocean. In many countries, people cannot drink proper water because the radiation levels are high, etc. Therefore, pollution in the ocean can be expressed mathematickally as a function of war, meaning that ocean pollution is dependent heavily on war, which means taking care of the issue of war will eradicate the growth of ocean pollution by some percentage. Good luck man, and if you think that my thesis for you is something that you might think of using, then there is no need to send me FG due to the fact that I just want to grant you a different point of view.
