I can't see many people taking down a paladin whether an Evasion paly or defensive AC paly. They have disgusting saves which won't let casters keep you away, high armor or evasion, and full heals.

hey pvp in ddo is meh, but there is some interesting pvp builds, evasion is a much, and ac dont mean jack shit, high end elite raids you need 90+ to not get hit, so it would make sence that other players can get past even that if they have high end raid gear. at lower levels pvp is more fun, though they dont distinguish lvls in pvp areas so u can have lvl 20s with lvl 1s

pallys do have the well rounded ness to excell at pvp - 2 rog, with a few lvls of pally add some fighter for bonus feats, something along those lines... u need at least 4 lvls pf pally for laying of hands, (insta heal ur self) ... i would do 2 rog 2-4 fighter and rest pally. just me

I've been toying with a 2rogue/2fighter/16 paly build but it seems I should drop fighter to get 18paly for massive saves.

From there I'm still looking at using a shield or not. How much of an AC hit would I take dropping to light armor or mithril medium? How much do I gain with high dex because I plan to avoid str and pump dex. Can evasion/dodge still be used with a tower?

My concepts for the builds are as follows. Maybe you can add some input.

32pt (Likely a Drow)
Str - Min (Weapon finesse to convert damage mod to dex, hence low str high dex)
Dex - high (weapon finesse + AC)
Con - med-high (All the rest I can afford to not put in dex/cha go here)
Int - min or (11)13 for combat expertise (using a +2 tome)
Wis - Min (Will saves converted to cha via 'Force of Personality'. Get a +6 item at 20 to be able to cast max level spells.)
Cha - High (Should I drop cha a bit for con? I don't know paladins all to well.)

2rogue grants me dodge and evasion.

Superior saves via high dex, med-high con, high cha (force of personality), and paladin.

Is 18 paly really significant or should I drop to 16 for 2fighter? I hear 18paly yield enormous saves, but i can't figure where.

fail! wep finesse only changes attack to dex not dmg... u will hit well but do shit dmg and it has to be a finesse wep. so light weps like daggers syths and stuff. drop ur dex to like 12 or 14 and get ur str up to 16 ur fine, +2 tome it if u have to for 18. also drow cant be 32 pt

I'm trying to keep dex up to attempt to get a similar AC for a light armor/robe + bracers char that uses evasion. Dex is also being used to generate a high reflex save.

I might just need to reconsider the value of evasion and drop it and the 2 rogue levels for 2fighter/18paly.

What I initially wanted was... (after realizing Drow can't be 32pt)

13 Str
18 Dex
12 Con
11 Int
8 Wis
16 Cha

I'm now rethinking dropping evasion, but keeping a dex build. How does Dex affect AC though? If I'm wearing heavy armor and a tower, is dex over a certain point a waste? Does the cut off for light or robe and tower as well? 11 int is obviously for a +2tome to get Combat Expertise later.

My reasoning for 13str is that I need 20 to bypass DR on the toughest mobs. I can do this with a +2tome and +6item. I could drop it to 12, but I had an extra stat point and it needed a home. I know my damage won't be phenomenal, but I'm going the tank route.

What sort of AC do the following have at max self buffed? TWF Evasion Paly (18paly/2rogue)? Intimitank Fighter (likely pure fighter, but any way you see it)? Dex build Paly Tank (2figher/18paly) with +8bracers/Robe or Light Armor, both carrying a tower? Dex build paly tank (2fighter/18paly) in heavy with a tower?

Thanks

Edit: Is there any level of fighter armor mastery I can take to get rid of the limit on the dex bonus when using a Tower?

yeah u can take mastery to drop by -1 pt each u can gain 4 dex mod total,

any way another thing is ur wis is gimed for a pally to cast spells he needs 14 so u wont be able to cast any thing. i would work up a monk/pally pure monks (dex build) get 80 ac easy, and u get some saves from pally works out well maybe 16/4 monk/pally - here is my stats 12 str 18 dex 12 con 12 int 14 wiz 10 charisma star monk take ur lvls of pall later on, use wep finness of corse with light monk weps to maintain balleance skills.

Do you have a link to a good high AC monk build?

I only need 8wis on the paly to cast. You can cast each level with +wis items.

I'm now considering 18paly/2rogue with light armor to start and robes at end game with evasion and a large shield to avoid the dex cap.

I'm also looking at maybe a higher rogue splash, but not likely.

ur sheild would nerf ur evaison, you would get - to skills as well. most dex "ac" toons use 2 weps with monk u can get wind stance taht gives blur effect as well 20% miss chance on any thing that dose hit u.

Why would a large shield nerf evasion? Are you just tossing guesses around? Why would I get -skills?

you get an armor check penalty just like wearing heavy armor, you cant evade if your lugging around a tower shield.

I said a large shield. There's no dex limit on those.

Evade only states that you must wear light armor or a robe.
