i belive that pvp is restricted to some arenas.. im still a noob so never real tried it

There is a fight club in basement of the Wayward Lobster tavern, I go down there for some free for all pvp all the time.

Not too long, you can start playing while it continues to download in the background if you use the Turbine Download Manager.
