is diablo immortal worth coming back to? haven't played in forever because of the pay to win. Is it still like that?

You literally couldn’t pay me to play it. I had sponsors of over 30k on my account and I literally am letting the account collect dust. Literally can’t pay me to play it. Apparently I heard JT called fraud on over 100k of his purchases. Can’t say I’m surprised tbh. What a character. Him and his mates were just awful people to associate with. I think one of them still lurks the forums. I will avoid from saying their name.

That’s how much money is required to even make the smallest feint scratch onto the game. Lol. Maybe it’ll be good in the future when everyone’s weak and nobody is paying, but yeah it’s a casino disguised as Diablo. It’s predatory gambling.

To do anything in the game worth while you MUST farm 5star gems. These are impossible to get upgraded without the use of the currency that cost money. You run the instance and hope for a good 5star. Each one costs 25$. I ran over a thousand of them and my character was still booty cheeks at best. The currency was donated from third party’s who watched me stream it on launch.

From what I can tell there are hundreds of hours of entertainment with zero dollar investment. It’s a far more polished game than D4 and I can play it on the toilet, and unlike D4 at least there is a pvp scene.
I’m not an expert but pvp has always been P2W as it’s almost entirely gear focused and skill maybe being 25-30%.
Look at the melee only duels that are still relatively active where people just right click each other with the godliest gear.

It’s a great core game. Netease is supposed to take over for monetization on the Poe 2 launch for the cosmetics shop from what I hear.

I’m excited for POE 2. I hope they don’t overcomplicate it. I tried going back to POE after six years and the learning curve was a bit too steep for me!
