I have a problem with the people who come here and lie by saying that poor f2p players can get out of copper league in PVP.
Having spent 25 euros on the game in the first day it launched on the battle pass and the other monthly things, and playing 3-4 hours a day over several sessions each day I am currently rank 3 Barbarian on BG leaderboards on my server at a Gold III rating of 2548.
I am however reduced to running a mostly front line support build to set up kills for the whales but it is absolutely possible to enjoy the game and excel as a f2p player in PvP specifically.
In Challenge Rifts however you stand no chance at competing but at the same time it is not a relevant segment of the game for I would say over 95 % of the player base. Most just push challenge rifts as they become completable for them with no care for how far everyone else is.
I have participated in Clan Wars and made meaningful impact in terms of % contribution and our clan consists of both some whales but also a majority of dedicated players who haven't spend more on the game that they would have any other.
I am doing Lassal on the second difficulty and I will probably be at a point where I can do him on the third next week. Sitting on 1461 CR at P35 and I don't even have my four set bonus yet because I haven't had time to spam dungeons that much.
The game is perfectly enjoyable as F2P or low paying consumer if you set your expectations accordingly - but you cannot just throw infinite amount of time at it and get to where the whales are just like there are other games you can't just throw infinite amount of money at and get to where the no life neckbeards are.
Your rethoric towards people on this sub forum has been hateful and full of spite and mockery. You are not interested in engaging in the nuances you just want to paint a broad picture.
Every single person you have engaged with that I have seen have said something akin to what I am saying - accepting the limitations of being a F2P player but also acknowledging that there is a good experience to be had regardless.
You have then proceeded to selective pick apart their statements in an attempt to create a "got you" moment with a hot take of yours.
Everyone knows that whaling will get you further than anyone else in this game but people who are still invested are starting to see that this fact will only impact you so and so much unless you let the public perception dictate your opinion.
Someone linked Asmongold's "Why I Quit Diablo Immortal" video on here the other day and while his criticism is valid he is also taking the easy route through popular opinion.
If anyone wants a more varied and fair review of the game go watch Quin's streams. He is actively whaling and playing the game talking about how dog shit he thinks the game is but while at the same tome showcasing that there is fun to be had regardless.
And let's be honest; if this wasn't a mobile game but strictly a PC game with the same limited availability as other games in the genre it would have been dead in the water.
However the game is made for a different demographic and I do not prescribe to the notion that it takes away from any other game in the Diablo franchise.
