It’s so intertwined together, the monetization and the game, that I cannot stop to wonder which came first. It feels like a monetization system at the core and some graphic fireworks build around it (the actual game).

I mean, I get it. Some people will just play through the campaign once or twice, not spend a dime and be happy with this experience. Good for them, for sure. If they had fun - why not?

I couldn’t because this game looks, and the skills and the classes are all soooo similar to D3… And I never liked that game either.

No d2 fan liked d3. I would say playing this game in any fashion is bad as Diablo 4 will be similar to this for that reason.

As for the monetization size, most mobile games have a loot box system. It can be taken in 1 "pull" increments or in 10 to speed things up. Usually 10 pulls are 29.99. The rifts in this game is how Diablo got around showing you the rates. In loot boxes the game company is required to show rates but since Diablo makes you complete a rift to open your loot box, they don't have to.

The "gameplay" is only a loot box opening animation.

What I don't understand is why mobile games have to be designed completely different than a console/PC platform game. A game on mobile to me, at the end of the day, just means a portable game. I've played many mobile games that condensed a console like experience and placed it into a phone or tablet, and that to me is how Diablo Immortal should have taken the approach. It's not like the genre is fixed on pseudo RTS builders or match 3; there have been games from almost every genre I can think of that have had the closest console experience a 3 x 6 inch screen can fit.

Considering the partnership with Netease, I'm not surprised this how they came out in the end. I don't mind microtransactions if they aren't done in scummy ways/if they aren't in your face 100% of the time.

Can't there be a game where I can just jump in and play, and not have to push the notifications, wait for fixed timers, or close out windows each time?

It's just a game, if you quit the game because you're not the most powerful player you have other issues to deal with

You're supposed to have fun, you don't need to be #1 to have fun. #1 goes to whoever shells out the most $

It was very fun and convenient at first but by day 10 it wasn't.
My brother and I found ourselves logging in just doing the daily chores to collect all those consecutive rewards and check off all those daily progression systems. Bounties, Heliquary, Battlegrounds, Shadow Contracts, etc etc.
So now we're spending 5 hours daily, slowly being less competitive but also forcing ourselves to log in at specific times to do all those specific times things like Battlegrounds, Zone Bosses, etc
My brother and I are glad we got the free 10 day trial, but its not fun past that.

Ekhm…

What’s the standard for a „great game”, these days?

Games are not designed the same way they were when I was a kid.
But I know what a good game isn't.
One that doesn't say its a PC game when its a terrible mobile port.
One that doesn't tell you to log in consecutive days or you don't get the carrots
One that doesn't have pay to win and a large focus on PvP.
One that doesn't have certain areas locked except at specific, inconvenient times.

Its a great free 10-day trial. If you see yourself enjoying it still after 10 days, then enjoy it, but I guarantee you will eventually feed that monster with your money.

Yeah I'd just stop playing if logging in becomes a daily chore, it's a game after all

I'm on day 8 and still loving it, I just have fun grinding and exploring the world

I was actually being sarcastic, sorry if it wasn’t clear.

I think it’s a terrible game. I saw the reviews, about the game, about the monetization system, I saw the gameplay and I am not touching this game with a ten-foot pole. D3 was bad enough. I don’t need a mobile, p2w D3 that was ported to PC as an afterthought.

D3m is not meant to cater to people who want to play a game

D3m is a mobile casino where the prize is a gem
