I'm going on a 5 month backpacking trip and am planing on eating premade dehydrated meals .

First I will need to buy a good food dehydrator, any suggestions? Willing to spend up to 300$.

Also, I need some good recipes for food that is both nutritious and tastes good. Everything must be able to be dehydrated and restored with just adding water.

I am trying to avoid using pastas because they do not rehydrate well without heat and I don't plan on carrying a stove. I know couscous rehydrates pretty well, what else?

So far all i got for ideas are beef jerky (not sure flavors) mixed berry fruit roll ups, and of course dehydrated mango slices.

I need some hearty dinner ideas, I'm thinking maybe some kind of stew but I don't know if it will dehydrate/rehydrate well?

you could probably rehydrate mashed potatoes decently if theyre precooked.

but im not sure how youre going to carry 5 months worth of food in a backpack, even if its dehydrated. youre going to have to restock food somewhere along the way. much easier to bring a credit card. fits nicely in your pocket, doesnt weigh much.

costco sells it too. add hot water and you can grill it. coworker goes camping and hiking and such and enjoys them.

I plan on hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) it is roughly 2700 miles long and runs from the border of mexico, up through california oregon and washington, alllll the way into canada.
dehydrated store bought mash is great with just water and they have tons of flavors, i tend to use those alot as my main carb. I even add them to ramen noodles or other soups to thicken the broth and add flavor. but they arent very nutritious, just carbs and salt....
I will be packaging the meals into boxes of 5 days and 10 days and they will be mailed to checkpoints along the way btw, much better option then a credit card and restocking at dollar stores along the way

looks good, similar to what im looking for.
but im trying to avoid heat and those will defintely need heat.

to cut down on wegiht i dont plan on carrying a stove I am carrying a tupperwear with a lid and in theory if i add water to a meal and just walk with it in the tupperwear it will fuly rehydrate by the time i reach my camp/lunch spot
