Ugh i feel like such a big dumbie. slicing cucumbers lengthwise and very thin today on mandolin, as usual for the menu. took a couple layers of the tip of my pinkie off, probably like the size of a dime. im so mad at myself. ive been working in a kitchen for around ten years and ive never done anything worse than nick myself occasionally with a knife. i had to leave and go to an urgent care center, i dont even know why i did though because all they did was put pressure on it and wrap it up, i could have did that myself. still worked a twelve hour shift like a boss though. just really annoyed since i pride myself in safety in the kitchen and then i go and do some shit like this.

happens to everyone at some point. i took the tip off my thumb a few years ago, got to take a few vacation days for that. its rare that i injure myself with a knife, but i actually did today, took a small bot off the thumb joint. oh well.

oh, and i sliced myself on my mandoline last week - while cleaning it.

I sliced a good chunck of my finger once with the japanese mandoline.. was slicing zucchinis thick and the mandoline was opened to the max with no grill (just straight up blade).. put on a band aid and some gloves which i had to change 2 or 3 times cause too full of blood.. i did lunch service like that lol..

I took the tip of my right ring finger off with a knife i just sharpened. Damn near to the bone. Took some finger nail with it too. Just wrapped gauze. Finished service. Had a waotress help redress it. It was bleeding bad. Went home had a nurse friend redress it she almost passed out. Then i just kept it clean.

Almost never need to go to the doctor. Unless whole limb missing. Or deep cut longer than an inch or 2
