so lately this, i'm assuming Armenian treat, has been really really popular. i've seen it alllll over the social media sites, plus, a lot of customers have been dying for the bakery i work at to start carrying it.

so i did a little researching, and you can fill these ponchiks with like nutella, or apricot jam, or other fillings!

i also found a recipe i am going to try out, and alter to perfection! but that being said, has anyone tried ponchik or made it before? if so, please let me know how you make it! the recipes i read are all over the place.. calling for yeast or no yeast, sambuca liquer or none at all.

let me know please! i shall try to make them too and include recipe shortly!

from a quick google image search it appears to be a variation on jelly donuts.

not sure i understand your comment. a lot of countries have their own variations of similar foods. mexican rice dishes are different from african rice recipes which are different from asian rice recipes. Pierogi is very different from asian dumplings. etc. give it a try and see if you like it better than the "american" jelly donut.

i suggest ordering it at one of the popular restaurants/bakeries/etc before you make it yourself.

sad thing is is i work at one of the more popular bakeries, we just never carried it.

i guess what sparked my interest is everyone who keeps asking about it says it's not like a jelly donut, but made with different ingredients and doesn't taste the same. i was just wondering if anyone knew about it or had experience with it.

thanks for replying though! ♥
