Seriously. Why would Wendy's Hamburgers try to go upscale and all? I see their commercials, and it is all Cibatta this and Aoli that. Sicilian and fireplaces and all that junk. Why go this route? There was the perfectly good combo meal of the
Grand Slam Burger, taco salad, and frosties. There are the Baconator burger, and the basic doubles and singles and all that. Those were and are good burgers. When I want a hamburger my choices are for fast food, Wendy's and Burger king,
I boycott McDonalds because of their "Fancy Ketchup" Now I want a fast burger, my choices are Cibatta and Aoli, or the 5 for 5 cheesburger deal at burger king. 10 times out of 10, I will go to burger king, because I do not want that upscale
garbage. I just want a hamburger. Does anyone out there know why they changed, for how long are they trying this hipster charade, or why?

Probably since they want to distance themselves away from McD's and BK and be seen as a more upscale place with better "quality."

Did they cancel regular hamburgers and baconators at Wendy's?

Fastfood is shitty for the body and mind. Why not have more self control and more patience. Cook your own food damn man.

imo they are trying to reinvent how people look at them
instead of a fast food place.

which imo is working
cause I see wendy's as more a "fancy" eatery than mcdonald's

@kath i havent been to either in a long time, but i heard mcd is trying to look more upscale with leather couches and big screen tvs. i think in europe they've got two story buildings too

@OP they're trying to keep up with the joneses. i imagine this has a rippled effect from subway's 5$ footlong a few years ago. it brought a great deal of success, so the other fast food giants tried to imitate it by emphasizing the value menus. the idea is to mix cheap foods with higher end foods to attract both sides of the customer base, and also to upsell. kids want the 1$ double cheeseburger? great, dad should try the high end burger too. unfortunately the pressure to keep prices low backfired. the majority of burger king's franchises sued them, which wendys escaped by allowing them to raise the price of the double stack to a bit higher than 1$. and a 1.19$ burger isn't as marketable as a 1$ burger. so they need to focus on "higher quality" items in marketing instead of the 1.19$ burger

I don't understand, you reject restaurants that have food you enjoy because they're trying to be too "upscale" or have "fancy ketchup"? Who's really the hipster here?

actually the whole "fancy ketchup" thing from McD's might be because they had a falling out with Heinz, their old supplier, because of some rivalry with CEOs. It's not even fancy, its just ketchup that isnt Heinz but doesn't taste like shit either so...

I have never been called a hipster in my life. Thats trash. I prefer to have Heinz ketchup versus all others. I am a loyal Pittsburgher, and I am loyal to Heinz. But for wendys, I want a hamburger that will fill me up, and is good tasting.
Cibatta and aoili stuff, its a lot of fluff, but isn't very filling, or satisfying. I would rather just go down to the local dive, and order one of their hamburgers, a one pound burger, and thats their only burger. But as for upscale, it depends on what I am hungry for, or how
much time I have. If I have alot of time, I like doing the whole sit down restaurant thing. But at the same time, when I am working, or busy, I normally have to either prepare food, or grab fast food. And I like filling fast food, not the cibatta aoli nothing of nothing. Its all a matter of taste.
