About how many people would a large batch of spaghetti feed one where you start with 48 oz of dry pasta? Trying to find foods that are cheap while giving me a lot to eat.

Also how many ounces of sauce should I buy for that? I like a pretty average amount of sauce on my spaghetti.

Wtf? There is no straight answer to either of these questions. Everyone eats a different amount of pasta and we have no idea how much sauce YOU want on your noodles. If something as simple as buying spaghetti is this hard for you just get Ramen.

Get the package of pasta (however much you want), and a standard size jar of sauce. Use about 1/4 or a 1/3 of the sauce, then you can put it in the refrigerator (wouldnt let go beyond 2 weeks max IMO), or put it in the freezer. Freezer will keep it for a long time. You can then just take it out of freezer, let adjust to room temp for a bit, then pop in the microwave for a minute.

Budget? Canned Tuna. You cannot go wrong here. Unless you detest the smell/taste of canned tuna. Tuna is great for you and a small amount of it can fill you up due to all of the protein.

I prefer canned tuna in water. Pop open the can, drain the water, throw the tuna in a bowl. Throw a small scoop of mayo in there, dice up some green olives,a couple pinches of salt and pepper, mix around, and you're in business. Scoop it up with Ritz crackers or make a sandwich out of it. Get some deli meat (1/4 lb of two different meats, or 1/3 or 1/2 lb of one meat). This will add variety to those sandwiches so you're not eating Tuna every single day, and you're not letting an entire loaf of bread go to waste. Look for Pirate's Booty in the chips section as a healthier alternative to Cheetohs, Doritos (even though i will slam some doritos in the right moment), etc:

My sister turned me on to this stuff. Take it to the pool. They taste great and a lot better for you than some of those chips/brands i mentioned above.

A regular (restaurant size) pasta portion would be 85gr raw. If you want a good portion of carbohydrate, 120-130g. Standard portion of sauce would be around 4oz.

pasta, rice (1$/lb pre-cooked), and eggs (1.50$/dozen)

Personally, for around 2 cups dry pasta (5.33 oz, ~500 cals) i use 1.5 cups store bought sauce (300 cals) which is a little extra since i add grated parmesan to thicken it up. assuming you like that much sauce too, then 48 oz pasta => 48/5.33*1.5 = 13 cups of sauce

it's a calorie game. im looking at my pasta, 1 box of 12 oz dry whole wheat penne has 1260 calories. assuming you have the same pasta as i do, that's 1260 * 48/12 = 5040 calories. assuming you use the same amount of sauce as well, that's 2600 cals in the sauce for a grand total of 5040 + 2600 = 7640 cals. assuming you eat ~2000 calories a day, that'll last you 7640 / 2000 ~= 4 days of food for just you.

assuming i didnt screw up my math.

2 large cans of sauce
1 full bag of noodles
2lbs of sausage or seasoned ground meat of choice.

optional:

canned stewed tomatoes
canned veggies
spices
cheese (mix with sauce when heating for a creamy tomato sauce)

unless you want meat free spag....
