so i dryed out a few ghost chilies in the oven till crispy and blended them to powder

i tryed this to season a burger and even like salt ontop of the burger but the intense kick and heat was missing

my theory was i didnt leave the seeds in it.


For next time im going to use my dehydrator or oven on low again
also leave the seeds in..

Anyone make pepper powders before and would like to help me on a temperature
tips or prepping. whats good to mix with it to make a seasoning.

Yeah the seeds and the centre of the pepper are where the main heat is. Just the outer flesh won't be nearly as hot.

For drying i would use a dehydrator. If you don't have one agood alternative is a box fan and ac filters. Oven on the lowest temp would work too.


To make a seasoning you can let your imagination run wild. Make a few different small ones to try them out and see what you like.

last time i burned them 2 much
this time. i left seeds and guess under cooked them a bit and were still wet so just stuck everywhere in the grinder.

round 3 soon.

How are you drying them? If you don't have a dehydrator or fan setup your best bet is probably to just leave them on the counter for a few days. I left some kung pows on the counter while deciding what to do with them and instead ofgoing moldy they just ddried out nicely. Probably because the y re too spicy for the mold. You should try doing that before ruining more in the oven. (They were whole btw.)

cant just leave out they will die and mold up..
i do have a dehydrator but im trying methods of slow drying in the oven at 200 degrees and under. lowest it can be basically

have you tried it? cause i thought my kung pows would but they didnt. try it with one and see what happens.

why not use the dehydrator if you got one? 200 is gonna be too high.

idk wanted to try oven 1st have to read how to put together n use dehydrator its new haha
+ they take hours oven can only be hour

yeah some chillies work that way but when i have tryed they just get all warped and just wet piles of peppers haha also refrigerating habineros after 3weeks they mold and break top steam off. (my personal experiences)
i have dryed my dragon chillies that way tho.

hmm, i wonder what makes the difference what pepers can/cant be dried by leaving em out.

the dehydrator might take a bit longer, but itll come out much better and more consistent. perfection cant be rushed... B)

I'd try horse radish with them
