I use most pans oo

non-stick pans -> frying eggs. honestly, I hate oily eggs so I prefer the non-stick+spray+little bit of oil
enamel -> for long roasts and stuff, I have a big pot for those weeks where I go fuck cooking, I'm gonna cook for 1 day and eat off it for the rest of the week! (beef stew usually, then some minute rice and some watermelon since its summer right now)
stainless steel -> pretty much the bread and butter for wok-frying since its so damn easy to clean. edit: i know i have betrayed my ancestors and no I do not use a real cast iron wok with a real wok fire. That shit requires like industrial level air circulation to make sure your house doesnt turn into a fucking nightmare
aluminum -> im pretty sure we all have aluminum baking trays. usually i bake marinated wings or stuff of that nature :)
ceramic -> im chinese so i have this huge ceramic pot with salt water for making pickled veges. awesome for breakfast.
glass -> nope, that shit cray (how the fuck do you cook with glass?)
earthenware -> nope
other -> porcelain. not the best material in the world but if you're a lazy fuck like me, then its not bad because the shit is easy to clean
not using cookware, only microwave -> yeah i remember the days of 24/7 microwave dinner/ramen/KD/goingout for shwarma. those were the times

non-stick pans -> frying eggs. honestly, I hate oily eggs so I prefer the non-stick+spray+little bit of oil don't use any non-stick at all
enamel -> for long roasts and stuff, I have a big pot for those weeks where I go fuck cooking, I'm gonna cook for 1 day and eat off it for the rest of the week! (beef stew usually, then some minute rice and some watermelon since its summer right now) good enamel cookware is as easy to clean as non-stick
stainless steel -> pretty much the bread and butter for wok-frying since its so damn easy to clean. edit: i know i have betrayed my ancestors and no I do not use a real cast iron wok with a real wok fire. That shit requires like industrial level air circulation to make sure your house doesnt turn into a fucking nightmare most steel woks are not stainless steel but rather black steel
aluminum -> im pretty sure we all have aluminum baking trays. usually i bake marinated wings or stuff of that nature :) we use baking trays with ceramic coating or enamel coated oven trays
ceramic -> im chinese so i have this huge ceramic pot with salt water for making pickled veges. awesome for breakfast.
glass -> nope, that shit cray (how the fuck do you cook with glass?) there are a few varieties of high temperature glass cookware (eg pyrex), good for roasts or casseroles (if made in the oven)
earthenware -> nope there are earthenware tagines (don't have one though) and roasting pots ("roemer topf") which we have, nice for a slow roast
other -> porcelain. not the best material in the world but if you're a lazy fuck like me, then its not bad because the shit is easy to clean yeah, but few are suitable for high temperatures
not using cookware, only microwave -> yeah i remember the days of 24/7 microwave dinner/ramen/KD/goingout for shwarma. those were the times

as indicated in the op there are different types of cookware which are more suited for different types of cooking
but since most people have a preference for certain meals it follows that there is a preference for certain types of cookware
the indicated need for different knives does not automatically translate into needing cookware of different materials
but rather different sizes/shapes which could all be made from (or coated with) the same material

i didnt say that BECAUSE different knives are good for different things, it follows that different pots are good for different things, too. i just compared them. theyre similar, but independent of each other.

theres a right knife for each thing. you can do pretty much anything with a chef knife, but that doesnt mean its the best knife for a particular job. for example, you could debone fish with a chef knife. but a boning knife will do the job much better. you could cut potatoes with a chef knife, but i prefer a thinner knife for that so that potatoes dont stick to the knife. etc, etc.

likewise, you could cook just about anything in a single large pot. soups, sauteeing, searing. whatever. but unless you need the high walls, theyll be in your way. or, you could make eggs in a stainless steel pan, but theyll stick much less and be easier to do in a non-stick or equivalent pan. you could sear a steak in a non-stick pan, but itll come out better in a stainless steel pan, since in that case you actually do want it to stick. so while you could use a single type of pan for everything, different things work better with different pans.
