Just went out fishing today & caught some trout.
Filleted them and put them on the grill to cook.
Take them out and put Maple Syrup on them.
Sounds nasty, but it is by far the best way I have had homemade trout.

I prefer cooking my trout over an open fire, so good.

one year in camp i tried smoking pickerel that i caught with pine needles while cooking over an open fire. tasted good, but i ended up not getting much flavor from the pine, probably because i didnt cover it to trap the smoke so it could penetrate.

That doesn't sound too bad if it would have worked.
I always love using a smoker to cook fish as well.

I just fry them on the skin on a pan

Maple syrup sounds like a great idea vs honey gonna try it next time

Yeah, frying on the skin makes it a lot easier to filet, and adds some extra flavor.

But yes, once you try this lmk how you like it.

Steam with ginger and green onions. Add soy sauce after.

very asian way, never tried it with trout though (usually people use bass)

gonna go fishing this weekend for some trout
