2 sticks of butter, 1/2 cup of sugar, mixed that up until well-blended. i don't have a mixer so I did it with a fork (not recommended, it sucked lol)

added an egg and some maple syrup, like a teaspoon. mixed in like 2 cups of flour and mixed until it formed into dough.

rolled the dough into little balls and put them on a cookie sheet (not greased) and flattened them out. baked at 350 for approximately 13 minutes (i just looked for the bottoms to be kind of golden).

for the icing i just mixed like a 1/2 cup of sugar with a tablespoon of milk and poured a little bit on each cookie. it hardens up after a little bit and is ready to eat. i probably could have gotten more creative with it but i wasn't really going for looks. it still tastes great.

I'm not sure, it doesn't sound like it would work, because less sugar would change the consistency of the dough and probably affect how much they crumble. They could just fall right apart, but I haven't tried it so I don't know for sure.

Just made Sugar Cookies too

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shorting
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 and 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

cream the sugar shotening and butter together for about 2 mins in the mixer, add the egg and the vanilla and mix. in a separate bowl whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

now mix everything together.

preheat oven to 350

in a small bowl add colored sugar, plain sugar, raw sugar some kind of sugar its up to you. take a cup and slightly wet the bottom, dip the bottom of the cup in the bowl of sugar, then use the cup to flatten the cookies one by one.

note: you only have to wet the cup once when you first start.

then bake the cookies in the oven for 10-15 mins or untill its golden brown
