I bought a microwaveable egg poacher a few days ago and I can't seem to get it to work right. It has 2 cups in the poacher where I crack individual eggs in each. Then it has a lid that you slide over top. You are supposed to add a tsp of water to each egg cup to allow it to poach correctly. It seemed like a great idea and since I am always rushing in the morning, it seemed to fit my needs perfectly.
The instructions on the poacher say that you are to pierce the yoke 3-4 times before you microwave. I do that and it still explodes.
The explosion this morning was pretty violent and sent eggs flying all inside my microwave and actually shut my microwave down. I microwave them for 1min and 30 secs.
Is there something I can do differently to avoid this? Or is microwaving eggs simply an impossible task?
This is sort of what it looks like -
