I'd stir it occasionally. Maybe once every 1-2 hours.

Stir, but you don't need to do so regularly. If you dont, it won't cook consistently, and stuff will stick to the bottom, which will taste bad when/ if you stir it in. It won't be a pain to clean because it won't stick too hard. It will finish faster if you move it around after it's heated.

/e wow.. between finishing reading the page of notes I was on and completing the post somebody already answered. Typically aren't enough people in CA for that.

the size of ur ingredients in the chili should be pretty small. it wont be a problem. i wouldnt even think i needed to stir it once, but i probably would when i tasted it halfway through. if u were doing a pot roast with halved potatoes, it would be a different story.

protip: use a liner, with water under it. nothing sticks to anything, and speedy cleanup.
