so i'd like to make something viet/jap/chinese for my mom on mother's day. however, i never had that kind of food before and i never really cooked before, so i dont know where to start. can anyone suggest something that will taste ok and i won't screw up?

thats my backup plan. i've got two weeks to plan so im hoping to make it a bit more special

I guess you got a point there but i seen people resever the whole back room ($255) just to make it a speacial day
and that 255 bunks just for the room plus another 100 for food
