What an interesting concept. It has a higher % at 4.2% in the light category. A 12 oz serving has 137 calories, 8 less than a regular Bud. I suppose it goes in the 'light' category, barely.

Interesting, The BeerStreetJournal says that "more corn is used to enhance the flavor, increase the alc, and maintain the light look and texture." Not sure about the enhance the flavor part of it.. Flavor comes from the added hops, from the other organic molecules left out of the yeast fermentation and from the initial ingredients themselves. Perhaps not too much hops is used, so to keep the light look and texture of it. Perhaps the preparation is well done to remove the offending organic molecules while keeping the aromatic ones. But there's not much else in corn than just sugar. And sugar is cleanly metabolized to pure alc. Very very little flavor comes along with it in the fermentation process of corn. In a nutshell, it seems this product is more of a marketing approach than break-through brew.

But, the most important is the drink itself. If it's good, then it's good. But when it comes to calories, I'd read light as so-very-close-to regular.

i bought some and it tasted so very much like a bud light mixed with a colt 45 or some other malt liquor.

i will not be purchasing it again, and i once again feel taken by the bull-crap american industrial beer industry.

If you must drink this because you want to lose weight or something, OK. Please don't pretend it's good, though. On the other hand, last night I had a cask-conditioned version of this:

and this (also on tap):

Thank God for Colorado beer.

Mountain Sun is a great place. It's about 10 miles from my house. Colorado Kind Ale is a classic.
