So I'm seeing on google that the best way to go around boiling it is to set it for 2 mins for each cup of it, and stick a nonmetallic object inside so that it'll bubble and won't explode in my face when i take it out.

Are there any more precautions or is this even the right way going about it?

Thanks.

I agree with Patient, a stovetop would be the more preferred method of boiling water.
If you have to use the microwave, just get a glass bowl that is microwave safe and microwave the water until it's hot enough.
Careful though, the glass is going to be really really hot.

It largly depends on the power of the microwave.
for better results use tap water & add a pinch of salt, any impurities to water will cause it to boil faster.
The explosion part is down to a molecular level & it shouldn't happen unless you intend it to, don't put any objects in your water, that's absurd.
