Do they make a difference in taste vs not using it?
I've never had alcohol/liquor so should I be worried if I eat food marinated in alcohol/liquor?

Going to a bbq soon, was curious about this.

They do taste different... that why these use them. And because its being cooked nearly all of the alcohol evapourates anyway. Can't believe you've never had anything in red wine sauce before...

Btw enjoy the bbq. Get drunk and have fun :)

Jack Daniels marinated steak is probably the best damn meat I've ever had, so yes it makes a difference but in a good way ;)

Last thanks giving I smoked a turkey with a beer can up its ass. Tasted great, adds a good amount of flavor too.

stupid question, like asking does salt add anything to a dish...

red wine reduction
and white wine reductions bring out alotta flavor in certain foods. beer is also one way to get a flavor from something

Only after 25-30 seconds wine evaporates. Pure Alcohol evaporates at 172°F (78°C), so anything that's brought to a boil or cooked on an open flame loses its alcoholic content.

My personal favorite dish that uses alcohol is Beef Burgundy- this is the recipe I used the last time I cooked some: http://www.macheesmo.com/2011/01/beef-burgundy/
And yes... it was rediculously good :P' ' ' ' '::drools::

In fact tests were made in the past and it's a myth that all alcohol will evaporate when boiled/reduced... you will keep some of the alcohol content even if you boil it for a long time...
