Hello d2jsp, I would like to share my love of food with you in this thread. I plan on posting several of my favorite recipes, and encourage you to do the same! If we provide helpful feedback and give some positive suggestions, as well as ask the right questions, we can help a lot of people out there who would like to learn how to cook, and try new things that they never would have thought to try before! Especially if we can get several great recipes from different cultures around the world, this can turn out to be very informative and also a lot of fun!

If you would like to support the idea of d2jsp having it's own subforum for sharing techniques and recipes, please visit my suggestion and cast your vote, as well as post a comment: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=44200269

bon appétit! :)

Shrimp Scampi

Ingredients:
  • 1 pound Shrimp, peeled
  • 12 tablespoons Butter, unsalted
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 8-10 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2-3 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 Scallions, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons Parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoons Lemon peel, grated
  • 1 pound Angel hair pasta
Preparation:
Boil 5 quarts of water in a large stockpot, add 1 tablespoon salt if desired. Cook angel hair pasta to al dente (check box for specific timing). Strain and put into a serving dish.* Melt butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add oil, scallions, garlic, and lemon juice and stir. Cook until boiling. Rinse shrimp, then add to the pan. You can add them whole, or remove the tail and chop them up into smaller cubes to be mixed in with the dish, depending on personal preference. If shrimp is raw, cook until pink and tender. If they were bought cooked, simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add parsley and lemon peel. Serve over pasta.

*Boiling the water for your pasta will take the longest amount of time, so make sure you get it out of the way before you do anything else. You don't have to cook the pasta right away, try to time it so that your pasta will finish at the same time as your shrimp, for best quality.

ENJOY! :)

Taco Nacho Rice

Ingredients:
  • 8 oz fresh pre-diced onions (1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 1/2 lb chuck ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 1 (5.4-oz) package taco-flavored rice and pasta blend
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 2 cups corn tortilla chips (about 5 oz)
  • 1 (8-oz) jar taco sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican-blend cheese

Preparation:
Preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2–3 minutes. Place onions, ground beef, and taco seasoning in pan; brown 5–7 minutes, stirring to crumble meat, or no pink remains.

Stir in rice blend and water. Reduce heat to medium; cover and cook 7 minutes.

Remove pan from heat; fluff rice with fork. Arrange chips over rice in pan. Drizzle taco sauce over chips; top with cheese. Cover and let stand 5 minutes to melt cheese; serve. (Makes 6 servings.)

Very interesting this topic, the problem is the unit of measurement.
Are different. If I write a recipes will be with European measures. I can not use your recipes because they are measures American / British. How can we solve? <_<

if there was a subforum then there could be a sticky that gave the equation to figure the differences.
