Burley Oak triple IPA, was pretty awesome sauce. Not as pungent as you would think.

Had a successful brew day yesterday! brewed a vanilla coffee porter its currently bubbling in the primary carboy with a OG reading of 1.071 it should finish with a abv of 6.5-7% i changed my brew system to biab my efficiency was 75% not bad for a biab! i mashed at a lower temp to get more conversion 152F. 162F was the strike temp and mashed out at 170F for 10 mins sparge the grains with few liters and boiled the worts for 60 mins this is my 5th batch all the other didnt turn out right i didnt do enough researching on brewing i just decided to wing it as a result i wasnt mashing with enough grains and my efficiency was super low because i wasnt mashing properly, that said this batch shows promise!

I bought all the ingredients from a loco brewer its a all grain mash in a bag i follow a recipe for the most part other then i added a handful of brown malt and a bit more ground coffee beans to the original recipe about 75 grams more to the worts. the worts tasted fine i also added vanilla to smooth out the coffee taste to the beans im rather happy about the price point per beer once i can brew a grand beer its costing me 50-75 cent compared to 2.10-2.50 in store.

went down to pismo this weekend, on the way down we stopped at fire stone for a beer, turns out they were releasing the 2016 sacuba (Barley Wine) that day, so i had it on tap, and got my full 3 bottle allotment + picked up 3 bottles of porabajava (Barrel Aged Imperial Stout Infused with Coffee) and then got 2 bottles each of SLOambic (wild ale fermented with blackberries) and Bretta Rose (wild ale fermented with raspberry's) both sours

so stoked, so much good beer on a fluke lol

How much vanilla did you add? generally ill add two vanilla beans for 1-2 weeks and it gets a pretty decent amount of vanilla flavoring. If using extract, I do not think you need a lot

I added vanilla extract just enough to take the bitterness away from the coffee about 35ml only thing i didnt measure lol i brewed 150 grams of coffee grounds in 3 liters of water then added the extract to taste.
