cracked open a bottle of thirsty dogs Siberian night imperial stout, aged in bourbon barrels.
Was saving them for drinking with a particular friend who loves it, but he bailed on me this weekend so I said fuck it.
This imperial Russian stout is aptly named. Poured almost black, with a bit of chocolatey looking head.
The initial smell upon opening the bottle was strong bourbon, but as I poured all I could really smell was different kinds of chocolate.
Very rich chocolate smells from this brew, along with a hint of bourbon.
The taste was amazing, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, dark ripe fruits, raisins, bourbon, and a hint of roastiness. Went down smooth... this beer is a sipper but it was so tasty it was a fast sipper for me.
Mouthfeel was nice, just the right amount of carbonation. Finished dry.
Overall this is an amazing beer, aged perfectly in bourbon barrels to add just the right amount of flavor I think.
Amazing chocolate flavors with some subtle other flavors, pretty readily available for me in Ohio too.
Only bad thing I can say about this beer is its like $24 a four pack
