when you differentiate between 'experience' and 'food', that takes food part out of the experience. otherwise whats the difference? it should just be 100% experience then.

i was talking quality, like wether you use pre cooked bacon or thick sliced from the butcher.

frozen store bought mass produced meat balls or freshly made meat balls.

store bought tomatoes or vine ripened.

even a large part of the cooking itself is presentation, cross marks on a pork chop, egg wash on a pie, ect.

Let's summarize, shall we?

The topic is presentation.

You come in with two pretty outlandish statements and introduce your own term, experience.

You try to deflect criticsm by belatedly defining experience in a way that is nonsensical in the context of this topic.

Your answer to this being pointed out to you is to start talking about quality.

Wtf Ylem.

it could be said that a meal is 80% experience and 20% food.

when you are planning a meal that you hope people will remember for years to come, presentiation can really make or break that.

WTF Asshlquisole, cant you read?

for the most part, i dont care how it looks - only the taste. usually thats because by the time i get home from work/running/errands/etc i dont end up eating until ~ 7 pm and im starving.

if i went out to eat at a nice restaurant, i would want good presentation.

that all affects the experience on the whole. which is why its usually broken into presentation and food, not experience and food. the experience includes everything.

not if your a good cook.

it dosnt take an rocket scientist to know a puzzle is not completed when 1/5 of its pieces are missing, but i guess it takes more then the average d2jsp poster.

how well you cook doesnt change the fact that by definition the word 'experience' includes the WHOLE experience. food + presentation + atmosphere = experience. its pretty simple.

presentation is very important.  if you just slop some food on a plate its not very appetizing.  how you perceive the food affects how it will taste to you.  now, just how far you take presentation can vary, but it definitely shouldnt be just slopped down on the plate.

Very well said.

Yes, yes it does. Also depends on the food. Soup is hard I mean couple chives on top.

But u see and smell the food first. Both are very important.
