Definitely expensive at anywhere from $10-$30 a pound depending on the fish, I have a real hard time finding Unagi

1/2 Lb. is the perfect size, but I can usually only find Salmon that size

salmons usually around $10 /lb around here, a few $ more /lb at the expensive place, though. ~15 for tuna. i think it was ~20 the one time i got it from the more expensive place. was definitely nice tuna, though. the place i got from this time only had lower grade frozen stuff. still tasted pretty good, but just not the same. not gonna get it next time, though, if thats all they have. i usually stick to those, as theyre easier to find and cheaper. a few tiems, though, ive made from tilapia (cooked). thats good, too.

Yeah or could always do with the imitation crab or tempura shrimp as well, or even veggie rolls if that's your thing

So you don't eat sushi with fish but you eat sushi with fish?

the crab in sushi IS fish with some color extract from crabs

good for you. *pat on the head*

i prefer to take cuisines to new exciting levels rather than stick with the same old boring stuff that everyone else does. like a salmon roll with a dill sauce. delicious, but you wont find any asian sushi chef making that.

and i have nothing against doing things differently (i do it all the times in my kitchen) but garbage product (especially crab imatation) will give garbage food.
