Chili for sure. Make a lot and you can easily cover 4 meals.

Mac N' Cheese, stir fry. You can make those for pretty inexpensive, reheatable meals.

Trying to think back a little way to when I was in college and broke lol. I guess asking grandma for money every now and then would be out of the question? Lmao

When I used to live on Campus I would buy Chunky soups I liked, and just add Rice to them

Makes for a much larger and more filling meal, also not too bad

Same, I do that with Campbell's chicken noodle, add a lot of rice. Not bad for a quick snack

Stir fry- frozen veggies with half of a chicken breast over a cup of rice. Very filling.

Your budget food best friends:

White Rice
Vegetables
Chicken Breast
Ramen
Potatoes

All of them are cheap and versatile; baked chicken and white rice, stir fry, chicken strips, mashed potatoes, ramen+veggies and chicken....

Could easily make 20 different meals with these 5 things.

I should keep this in mind and try it when on low budget.

Fettuccine Alfredo, the most expensive thing will be the cheese.

Pasta:

3 cups flour
3 eggs
2 egg whites
pinch of salt
olive oil

Mix all together gradually until the dough forms, knead for about 5 minutes, cover and let rest for 15 minutes

Sauce:

1 pt heavy cream
1 cup grated parmesean
1 stick butter

Heat a deep saucepan and add in cream, toss butter in and let it melt, stirring occasionally. Add the cheese and let simmer until the sauce reduces and thickens.

Cut the pasta dough as desired and throw in salted boiling water for 2 minutes, drain, and add to the saucepan and toss to cover.

tough cuts of meat are cheap and stew really well with root vegetables (which are also quite cheap)

ground meats are usually quite cheap, as well as chicken legs/thighs

Any vegetable is usually FAIRLY cheap (if in season)

eggs are an excellent source of protein, same with canned fish (or frozen fish)
