This is the correct answer.
Also only use wood/plastic/rubber tools in the pan, never steel <-- you prob already know that.
Lastly, when the surface starts to degrade pitch the pan, some non-stick coatings can be carcinogenic

if hers is cast iron it would make sense. regular or nonstick pans /should/ be washed. cast iron should not. especially not in a dishwasher lol.

handwash.. soap.. warm water.. then little bit of oil.
