i usually don't fancy the honey but i went over to the farmers market and they had a display about some local raw honey, so i bought what the guy was calling "sourwood honey" and i gotta say, its pretty damn delicious.

unfortunately everything i put it in to give some sweetness, ends up tasting flowery-honey because its so strong. a couple drops on chicken might as well be the whole container of the bear bottle honey.

but in terms of honey on toast, if you can get sourwood, try it. super tasty. ;)

any ideas what to try it with other than chicken or toast?

honey-ginger glaze. the ginger will temper that super-flowery taste.

never thought of that, got a recipe or will google suffice?

im thinking this is a chicken/shrimp/tofu recipe too, since honey-ginger beef doesnt quite sound right....

i've also tried plain yoghurt with it - delicious.
coffee too of course, but its more subtle for obvious reasons.

not specifically, no. google should suffice.

and yeah, it would go great on something like a chicken shish kebab. not as much for bweef.

there are many delicate honeys once you look around
mostly so-called monofloral honeys but some are regional (climatic area)
genuine lavender honey (not the one flavoured with lavender)
leatherwood honey
manuka or tea-tree honey (can be very expensive due to it's medicinal properties)
are excellent but might be difficult to get
acacia honey is nice a well (quite liquid and not overly sweet)
from the regional ones rainforest honey is worth mentioning (if you can get that is)

my farmers market isnt really a farmers market, its like a really big supermarket combined with the latino market and asian market. most of the meat and produce is probably shipped in and is no way better or fresher than publix or kroger :(

i miss open air markets...

the farmer's market is huge here, and there's a little local shop who makes the best homemade honey in so many different flavors. it's so so good.
