I bought a microwaveable egg poacher a few days ago and I can't seem to get it to work right. It has 2 cups in the poacher where I crack individual eggs in each. Then it has a lid that you slide over top. You are supposed to add a tsp of water to each egg cup to allow it to poach correctly. It seemed like a great idea and since I am always rushing in the morning, it seemed to fit my needs perfectly.

The instructions on the poacher say that you are to pierce the yoke 3-4 times before you microwave. I do that and it still explodes.

The explosion this morning was pretty violent and sent eggs flying all inside my microwave and actually shut my microwave down. I microwave them for 1min and 30 secs.

Is there something I can do differently to avoid this? Or is microwaving eggs simply an impossible task?

This is sort of what it looks like -

Microwaving anything is bad. Avoid it if possible imo.

I could just help you learn to cook them on stove top?

Scramble eggs:

put 2-4 (depending on how much you like to eat)
in a bowl
add a pinch of salt
add a pinch of pepper
whisk that together with a fork until it's all broken up, don't whisk it too long though

make sure your pan is hot and you've added non-stick spray and oil or some butter just to coat the bottom of the pan...

you can test if its hot enough by letting your fork go over the pan and letting some of the egg drop onto the pan, if it starts sizzling then you can add all of it in and then let it cook for 30 seconds, then start scrambling it. Basically move it in all different directions. Keep letting it cook 1-2 minutes. Before its completely done, set it off to the side and let it finish off on its own for a minute.

For eggs with the yolk you put two of them in the hot pan, let cook for 1-2 minutes, flip, do the same, set off to the side and then voila.
As for your microwavable eggs I've never seen that before, I would imagine the eggs would be rubbery and they wouldn't be cooked as good that way. Same with cooking a tortilla, or noodles, they're just not as great.
