Also, how do you drop gold, or is there some type of in game trade (besides the AH)?

I'm not sure on dropping gold (Maybe the icon in inventory), but you can trade gold in the Trade window.
Just right click the player icon and select trade when they are near you.

I have about 8k in game gold atm for sale.
