Selon Slate.fr " Deux décennies après la sortie de leur album, une chanson du groupe de rock britannique Dire Straits devrait être censurée par le Conseil canadien des normes de la radiotélévision (CCNR) pour «violation du code de déontologie».
La décision fait suite à une plainte déposée par une auditrice de la station de radio FM OZ à Terre Neuve suite à la diffusion du célèbre tube en février 2010. Le conseil a rendu sa décision le mercredi 13 janvier en indiquant que Money for Nothing ne devait plus être diffusée dans sa version originale sur les ondes canadiennes en raison de l’usage répété à trois reprises du mot «faggot» (équivalent du mot français «tapette») ".
