Valve Announces $1,000,000 Gamescom DotA 2 Tournament

http://dota2.com/So, having played DotA for roughly six years, this announcement makes me extremely excited for a variety of reasons, with the first being it's an extremely large prize! Although it is a Winner Takes All prize pool, which has its pros and cons, there really isn't anything that can go wrong for Valve by marketing a First Place prize of seven figures. While DotA 2 won't be released for quite a long time afterwards, this tournament will definitely put the MOBA genre in the spotlight.
Now, the other side of the story that has me jumping is that this shows how serious Valve is about DotA 2. They're not just throwing together some game to make money off of. Valve legitimately wants to compete with League of Legends, and that's fantastic news! We're about to experience a new level of productivity and announcements coming out of both companies pertaining to League of Legends and DotA 2. In short: For the MOBA community, DotA 2 is probably going to be the best thing to happen to the genre.
What do you guys think about this? I'm personally anxious to see what Riot will dish out as a response.
