Anyone could explain how it works with +4/-5 gambling rule.


My understanding is, Griffon's Eye has 84 ilevel. Which means one could start gamble it at lv80 ( because +4 ), although changes are lower than gambling at 89lv.

So, 89-99 level player has the best and the same equal chance to get a Diadem, Griffon's Eye.


Am I understanding that process well ?

Yes, at lvl 89, you have 100% chance of an item to roll griff. Chances are still pretty slim though ... first the circlet has to roll as a diadem and then the chance for it to be unique are 1/2000.

Spent like 1 500 000 000 igg on gambling in d2r.

At lvl 80 you can gamble from 75 ilvl to 84 ilvl so when you gamble as lvl 80 you have 1/9 chance to be able to gamble a griffon - If you roll anything other than max ilvl [+4] you are 100% certain it's not a griffon
At lvl 89 you can gamble from 84 ilvl to 93ilvl so when you gamble as lvl 89 you have 100% chance to be able to gamble a griffon - every roll can be a griffon

When you want to gamble griffon it's best to gamble tiaras, with d2r there is an exception when items upgrade.
You gamble tiaras and it will be tiaras until you get a diadem, when you get a diadem and it still shows tiara as tiara and not a circlet it's 100% chance it will be diadem again - if it turns to circlet after a diadem roll it will not be a diadem = not griffon
When if turns to circlet after diadem reroll items untill you get tiara again and keep going

Best clvl for that gamble is 99 - here you have the best chance for the gambled circle/coronet to upgrade to diadem - 5.125%. And that will become unique one 1 in 2000 times. So the chance for Griffon's Eye is 0.0025625% or approx. 1/39024.
For clvl98 - 0.0024635% or approx. 1/40593
For clvl97 - 0.002348% or approx. 1/42589
For clvl96 - 0.002216% or approx. 1/45126
For clvl95 - 0.0020675% or approx. 1/48368

Gamble use this formula to see if the item will be upgrade to elite:

elite = 1 + (ilvl - elite qlvl) * 33 / 100

So the higher the ilvl the higher the chance, in this case elite diadem has a qlvl of 85, and at clvl99 your odds are the item will have ilvl94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 99, 99, 99 or 99, if you do an average with that formula it gives 5.125% at lvl99, and lower if you are lower level.

Wow, super interesting. I didn't know ilvl was part of the equation to determine upgrade chance. I would have thought the odds were the same from clvl 89-99.

Allright, i have always wondered what the odds are of gambling a Griffon. Cool to see the how the math behind it works.
