Does anyone know if bnet allows you to join a friend's game if they aren't the host? Assume for now that the host has allowed friends to join (though I wonder if it matters).

I am wondering if there's a bug in the join game feature that's allowing scammers to basically enter games uninvited because they friended the person who is joining a trade game.

I can totally imagine this bug actually existing, so not sure if anyone has tried this before.

I've had people not fitting level req popping in when hosting baalruns. I can only imagine they join through their friends (or lvl req not functioning), as I've certainly not had them friended.

OK, I just tested this (since I have 3 accts).

The result is that it doesn't matter whether the host has "friends can join game" or not. If I as host create a game with a password, and someone joins that game -- their friends can automatically join using the bnet feature.

Basically:

A creates game with a password.

B is friends with C. Neither B or C are friends with A.

B joins A's game (using password).

C can now join A's game without a password.

Did you have the checkbox clear for "allow joining by friend list" on the game?

Yeah, the hosting account had that unchecked.

Edit: OK tested this some more. If the person JOINING the game has the checkbox checked, their friends can tag along into any game they join. In other words, the setting in the "Create Game" tab affects the behavior when you join other people's games.
