So it looks like all those people posting about poofing items weren't crazy.

1) D2 character save files have a maximum size (that hasn't changed since classic), but now we have more stash space.
2) More stash space = more items
3) More items = bigger save file
4) Exceed max file size = poof

Looks like crafted/rare items take up more file size space, which is why more people have been having stuff disappear while crafting big packs.

Good to know.

This is only for single player right?

Was tested on single player but could just as well work with multiplayer.

Haven't lost any items.

nah people have reported losing torches and shit on BNET on jsp too

edit: there were tons of threads about it in discussion like a week ago, but people got written off as "you just charsi'd it" or "you have it on a mule"

so we'd have to figure out how items are saved in shared stashes on their file system but generally, you could avoid this problem by never filling your stash full of 1x1 items or more than 2/3 full or whatever
do NOT fill your stash / inventory all the way up or you'll lose items
