Most fun build to actually play would be Frozen Orb Asn.

Abyss actually clears p8 pretty decent and requires some time to get better at laying miasma chains down well to hit mobs when you place sigil death and use abyss to suck enemies in. Dynamics of clicking to make it work good aren’t like other builds and you don’t need a demon, just defilers

Best clear speed : taintlock

Most fun to play : bowlock

Taintlock can Tele and 2 minions will auto fireball to clear non fire immunes while fire immunes will be handled by a minion with cursed that you have bound.
Bow lock might be fun if you wish to aim and there are few magic immunes

Apocalypse is somewhat slow as it takes time from pressing buttons to killing monsters

Cleave / Mirrored blades with 48%-75% FCR, clears all content.

-Best clear speed assuming tz p8
Abyss Lock with 125% FCR, Maxed resists, 86% FHR bp. Chill/Smooth gameplay. Load n Go. Decent AOE. Not many resistant monsters(!). Can also MF as well. Gets pretty insane @-50% to 70%+ enemy magic resist.
Absolute best is probably taint+blood boil lock but you will be smashing so many buttons and prebuffing every game + all kinds of gear.

Locks are quite versatile and seems to cater to a variety of styles people may find enjoying.
IMO, for simplicities sake and viability for P8 + TZ, My choice is Abyss Lock.

*Apocalypes is cool but takes a bit due to delay but large AOE
*Abyss - Nothing but positive things.
*Cleave/Mirrored blades, smaller aoe, high single target damage. Clears all content.
*Blood boil / Tainted - Tele while Taints do damage. BB as needed. Auto pilot + hit skills as needed.
*Bow lock - slower tele frames, 5 multi-shot bows via mirrored blades + magic damage or +enchant etc.. Decisions to make such as pierce %, bow choice, etc,.

For Abyss lock, what can the dmg go up to? I am playing Fire Warlock as i respec'd FROM Abyss. Do 29k Apocalypse dmg. Clear speed is pretty dang good. Not sure how Abyss build will differ in items and clear speed.

abyss definitely requires more hands on piloting than other warlock setups but it probably has the highest ceiling as far as what content it can clear without troubles


taintlock is really nice if you just want to hold tele and win

Sunder Charm + Vex rune = Fire lock, also viable with GG gear
best ladder 1-99 assuming u have enigma = fire lock
Best clear speed with a full budget and metagaming, and playing full act1-act5 tz games = taint lock
Best clear speed slamming p8 tz same map over and over = fire lock or bow lock
Best balanced build = fire lock
best p1 farmer with no gear = abyss
best leveling lock no respec = taint lock
best qol p8 shredding lock = hex bane mist bow lock

most locks can kill uber tristram with minimal respec

cleave/mirrored blade melee lock for uber ancients

abyss lock do good against hell/tz cows if just running bottom tier basics (rhyme/stealth/lore)?
