in Battle.net, when a new season started, you didn't need to restart or update the game at all. If the ladder reset was at 2:00 AM for you, you could just sit in the character creation screen at 1:59 AM, type your name, and the exact second it hit 2:00 AM, the "Ladder" checkbox would become available to click.

My question is: If I'm playing the game on Steam , will I need to restart or update the game client when the clock hits 2:00 AM, or does the character creation trick still work without closing the game?
