So I’ve been running three instances on my laptop.. 16gb ram rtx 4050 and it’s been fine so far (atleast two months no real problems… occasionally char drop but game doesn’t close… just DC.. swap to that instance and join the game and im rolling.

Today I got on and went to see if there were any driver updates for nvidia etc and now all of a sudden.. the instances are just closing out non stop.. can’t even keep up two instances for 3 minutes..

It seems to close out when switching between instances.

Anyone know what I could have possibly done?

Did you just check for updates, or did you actually perform one?

Also, does any error pop at all when the instances terminate?

Yes I checked and there was one update (GeForce Game Ready Driver) version 596.21

It was just eating up too much ram… turned VRAM down and it worked fine with two instances but 3 was too much.

It was weird because earlier I was running 3 instances fine but.. it’s all good just switched one to PC and running two off laptop.

It wouldn't be that weird if you performed a driver update, did you?

Yes I did.

Thanks for the confirmation.
I would bet on one of the 2 following explanations then:

- The driver update architecture, somehow modifies the way VRAM is handled, and it's not correctly supported by the OS.
If true, it could be fixed by a later driver and/or OS update (hopefully in a near future).

- The driver update either modified a graphic setting, or introduced a new one.
If true, playing with the settings might solve the problem.

That’s what I had to do.. had to adjust vram settings - but putting vram back to how it normally (or how I remembered) it was still won’t allow me to run three instances. I’ll have to play with it some more but I tried few different things like turning global vertical sync on and didn’t work so idk at this point.

Yeah, there might be one or more setting(s) involved.
That, or the driver itself is simply too recent, and not fully supported yet (additional card and|or system update required).
Hard to tell unfortunately.

just lod d2r? not rotw?

reason i ask is because rotw took out legacy quick switch filter (f key) and that would significantly reduce resources.
but even at that each instance typically takes like 5-6+ gbs of ram no? curious you are having success

If you use a low hd mod for fillers, you can run 8 accounts simultaneously on your machine. With your discrete graphics card, the RAM usage per account will be about 1gb. The bottleneck will be your main acc.
