Does anyone know if consuming a demon empowers an abyssist? I don't know much about demon consumption.

Consuming a Defiler gives -10% enemy magic resist and +20% magic damage

Edit: There's a few super unique monsters that you can consume for -45% or so enemy magic resist. But you don't really need it, and defilers are just available right away.
