So i am trying to use hotkeys for skills but on my computer it forces me to alt+the function key in order to cycle between skills assigned

for example when i want to go to portals at F8 i have to hold alt when doing so..... there has to be a better way, i havent played in so long i forget how i did this because right now when i hit f1 or f8 it applies the function to my laptops default system function not the in game one
i am sure i am not explaining this very well

Go into your computer bios and turn off the function key.

Lookup specific guide for your motherboard if you need to.

i must be really out of it because i got an hp laptop and i have rebooted 10 times so far and i still cant get into my bios. It says i need to hit either esc or f10, neither works

Tell me exact model of laptop. Also, just tap f10 over and over again after you turn your laptop on generally will work. Sometimes it's f8 too.

If that doesn't work, lmk exact make and model. Should be on the sticker on the bottom.

Spam f keys until u enter bios

I almost forgot about this, but just in case, try pressing FN + esc to see if that'll turn off Fn lock and restore your F key functionality.

Generally on laptops that have it turned on by default that rarely works and you'll have to go in through the bios, but it's worth a shot. Laptops have that Function key lock baked in through the bios and it's annoying to have to go and turn it off. It's actually one of the first things I do when getting a new laptop.
