just a tip for those one or two people that had full 24 char account to convert over to rotw

unexpectedly you can actually have 24 d2r and 24 rotw characters

so you can temporarily bring over a 25th to help move that big stash of goodies or "1 allowed per" items
while you have a "25th char" you disable char creation and conversion in rotw so be sure and delete him after you finish
perfectly safe and although it was a pain i moved everything over one at a time

create temp expansion char (not rotw)
enter game, access d2r stash
convert to rotw and deposit in stash
delete your temp char
rinse repeat

Somehow you must’ve reached maximum characters, thus disabling creating new ones

i still deleted down to 24 after i was finished, scared of it just deleting the wrong guy after 24 hours or some other unexplained metric

mainly just putting this out there for people that thought deleting a char was the only way to get your last items
if you had gheeds and annis or torches in stash and all of your chars had one your going to have stuff left after full conversion
