Apparently Blizzard hasn't had any interest in D2R development for a few years since the last big update which brought Mosaic into the game
But like any other Chinese companies these days, Netease, being one of the largest game developers in the world right now, is not content with bringing a 'dead' game without any future updates into China - the biggest video game market in the world, according to 2025 figures
So when they launched their Chinese server of D2R a few months ago, they first added 3 extra shared stashes, 4 extra character slots and a new set item to the game, like an appetiser. Having seen millions of copies sold so far, now they are aiming for the main dish
You think they will do a big balance change like 2.4? Nah, they are more ambitious than that. Currently, Netease is working with Blizzard to add a new class to the game
A new class for a 25yo game? It sounds ridiculous and delusional, but that's what Chinese companies do nowadays - turning impossibilities into reality
A few Diablo streamers have been invited to Blizzard HQ in the coming January, to have a taste of the new D2R class, as well as the new DLC of Diablo 4
If the above doesn't happen, I'm gifting 100fg each to the first 27 comments in this thread
