So u play classic or d2r? Which is the better one?

Neither - I mainly play d2r classic

I assume you are probably new to d2? As I already tried to explain, in the d2 world "classic" is referring to a non-expansion playmode (no runes, jewels, no act5, no assasin, no druid ...). Classic is the original d2 from 2000. A while later expansion was introduced (in 2001). Expansion is the add-on with the name "Lord of Destruction" or "lod" which is referring to the new evil (Baal) and with him act5, which was introduced.

So I think you are talking about whats better legacy d2 (old) or the new d2 resurrected?

If you are rather young of age and never played d2 I'd recommend you to start d2r. The graphics in the older legacy d2 will leave you with pixeled eyes. You have to consider, this game is from 2000 and was never touched much in regards to graphics. Graphics have been improved with the d2r.

If you are older (over 30y/40y+) and into gaming-nostalgia you can give the legacy d2 a try.

The content for legacy and d2r is basically the same. Except that for the expansion version some items (runewords), which were only a available for ladder/ seasons in the legacy version, are now also availabe for non-ladder mode. Also in the legacy version there are still items existing from older patches (prepatch items) on non-ladder playmode, which you wont find anymore in d2r. Ladder/ seasons mode for d2r is not yet available.

We however dont know how long Blizz will keep the legacy up and also be aware, the legacy version wont receive much of improvement/ updates anymore compared to d2r ... And who knows if they add new content it will be for d2r solely. Also they have different servers of course. For instance they just added KEYBOARD AND MOUSE QUICK CAST & ACTIVE SKILL BINDINGS OPTIONS for new d2r patch. https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/diablo2/23746020/diablo-ii-resurrected-patch-2-3-highlights-coming-soon

In the d2r version, when creating a new char, if you dont tick any boxes you will play the expansion (lod) playmode. The devs somehow decided to call the classic playmode "pre-expansion" which svcks b4llz. However you can tick this box and your char will be set for "classic" mode. You can always convert a classic char to expansion but not back.

Hope this helps

One nice thing about classic is that it's easier to get rushed through it since you don't need a bumper (if you don't know what this means, don't worry about it). Once you rush through the game you can convert to a LoD character.

Some of the mechanics also work differently in classic iirc.
